Fox & The Firefly Cottages

First whenever I do these reviews I am comparing to my experiences to other parts of SE Asia, and I have found in general the Philippines does not offer the same standards of comfort/service. So although I gave a score of 8, for me this is a good score for the Philippines. We haven't done a hotel in Philippines for a number of years, but in the past, hotel/restaurant staff needed improving. Not the case here, the staff were very pleasant, and efficient, so I give the staff full marks. Staff at ront desk were friendly, organized and delivered as promised. The restaurant was very comfortable, staff were friendly and efficient as well. Many food options that met expectations. Perhaps a little on the pricey side, but this is our first stay in the Philippines so no comparator as of yet. Generally in the 400-450P range for "mains". Breakfast is not included. Most of the places we have stayed at in SE Asia include breakfast, but perhaps this is reflected in a relatively lower price for our accommodations. We stayed in one the huts towards the back of the resort, and we found it quite peaceful by Philippines standards. It backs onto a rice field, so quite pleasant. The grounds are very nice - green and tastefully decorated. almost a "Bali" feel to the layout. Much better than most places I have stayed at in the Philippines. No AC but you know this when booking. I found this was not an issue. Fan provided enough cooling. There are also fans at the restaurant. The paddle area is right beside the resort across a fairly quiet street. The guides we had were very nice. Wish list - a pool. Of course this would also affect the cost, but it would be nice to have a pool for an afternoon swim. Perhaps they have plans in the future. They have a nice looking spa and yoga area, which we however did not use. Internet worked very well for us.

Loved our stay here, it's in a lovely local area of Bohol - for me I preferred it compared to Panglao but for some people they may feel isolated. The premise is beautiful, lovely pockets of greenery and beauty. Staff were great and friendly, super easy to organize tours/rent a bike and DIY something yourself. There was an eco responsible attitude about the tours and activities which I appreciated alot. Food was very good at the restaurant:)

Great location right by the Loboc River and nearby thee center of Loboc, a small and nice village. I definitely recommend renting a scooter while staying here — it makes exploring the area much easier and more enjoyable. We stayed the first night in one of the cottages and then moved to a room in the main building. The cottage had a sweet surprise from the staff for our honeymoon — such a thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated. The second night we changed to a room in the main building was much more spacious and comfortable, with far fewer bugs. Both options were beautifully decorated and featured private open-air bathrooms, which added a unique charm to the stay. The food was great — I ended up repeating my favorite dish, the Spaghetti aglio e olio, because it was just that good! Mozzarella sticks with spicy mango sauce were very yummy!! Drinks and breakfast were also delicious. It’s a lovely spot to relax and a great base to explore the Loboc River area. Watching the fireflies at night was one of the most magical moments of our trip. There are also plenty of tour options available just down the street from the hotel, which is very convenient.

We loved the little details in our cottages, it's all very picturesque, just like the entire grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful and so were the tour guides (we did the MBT and SUP tours-they were one of the highlights of our stay!). The restaurant, which is also quite popular with people not staying at the cottages, offers a variety of delicious food choices, possible the most vegetarian choices we saw on our whole trip. Because of the rain we were not really able to use the deck in front of the river, but we can imagine how nice it would be to hang out there. The staff arranged everything we needed, including taxi's, massages and last-minute tours.

I cannot even begin to express my upmost gratitudes to the service I received from the wonderful staff at this beautiful resort. On my third day I got very sick, to which the staff responded immediately - providing me with local medicine, a full body hot press, and the chef even made me a personalised medicine tea. One member of staff drove to the local pharmacy to get me painkillers. I could not recommend this place enough, from the delicious food (the best we had in the Philippines) to the fun activities that this place provided. The dogs at this accommodation are all adorable and friendly - it was very hard to say goodbye to them! The rooms were beautifully decorated and had everything you needed. I just want to say a massive thank you to the wonderful staff who truly made our stay - you are all exceptional people and I am so grateful for your hospitality. Thank you <3 This place is the perfect place to relax, with the lake only a few seconds away and lovely sun loungers that you can sunbathe on. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the Philippines!
